I Wanted Differently
I wanted you to tell me
That everything's changed
When down inside, we're still the same
I wanted reassurance
As I rested in your sweet embrace
And breathed in the pain planted in this place
I wanted to be told
That it's not all some big dream
That will only one day rip at the seams
I wanted you to hold me
As the world spun by with hope
Rather than having a noose tied around me
With you holding the ungrateful rope
