My Anthem to You
The sea is calm tonight.
This is my anthem to you.
I still remember, the billowy summer, of a moonlight's past.
And the cool, fresh breeze that you gave to all that was drowning.
I still remember the shades of grey that framed your face and the indigo blue shirt that had faded away.
You were the sun and I, Icarius- burned by flying too close.
I still remember you singing a song about a broker record and a broker song, that wouldn't shut up and played all day.
Time is like a roller coaster- stopping for no one.
Like a fading rose- you smoked your last cigarette- swearing it was your last.
The sun was setting and you were my shades of cool.
I still remember, the billowing summer, of a moonlight's past.
And the hushed words I breathed that you kept prisoner.
"L'amor che move il e'latre stella."
The sea is calm tonight.
This is my anthem to you.
