The In-Between
Freedom they cried
Choices they said
Ukraine belongs to us
Crimea is ours
Putin and Yanukovych lie
Klitschko and Tymoshenko say
It’s the dawning of a new day
Our country is ours
Kiev roars
Not yours
Gunshots mark their words
Protestors scream
As the hot blood of rebellion
Seeps into the concrete
I don’t lie, Putin says
I’m only trying to right the wrongs
Don’t join with the EU it’ll be the end
Unite with Russia instead
Here’s my gift to you—
Loans and gas, this union will last
But who’s to believe in the heat of the struggle?
Who is lying and who speaks the truth?
And who doesn’t know where to turn?
Russia?
Ukraine?
