Inverted Love
I am the monster you created
The crumbling marble
Of a statue long forgotten
The cracks in my face
Outline the tears
Regrets
And lost motivation
My nails
Have never been long enough
To peek past the tips of my fingers
And yet
I still manage
To claw my way to my veins
Plucking each one
Like banjo strings
I have never been one to cry in public
It’s weak
And I was strong
But as you pass
And your perfume fills the air
I can’t help but wither
A flower with her petals tore off
She loves
She loves me not
She loves me
She loves me not
Not you who has ruined me
Not you who crawls back every month
Not you who left me for dead
Not you!
When I imagine her kissing you
I shutter
Because she won’t care if you hate it
She won’t mind that her lips are chapped
Or her tongue to sloppy
She doesn't know
You like her hands
On the back of your neck
