Lone Flower
She was a rose amongst the thorns
That men of every land adorned
Her ivory petals soft and thin
They held her fragile life within
And when each petal began falling
They leapt to catch them, they were crawling
But her eyes stayed fixed on shadows
Unscathed by her suitors arrows
She was lonely, that lone flower
Still felt darkness in sun showers
Sinfully ignorant of her beauty
And God those eyes, they cut right through me
Bluebell, violet, endine, lily
Iris, poppy, dogwood, kill me
For here my white rose drowns on paper
And I can never, ever save her
