Remember weakness and then ...
Do you remember?
We used to go out armed with our hearts
And shoot the breeze
Hoping to catch enough wind for dinner
But ending up chasing the shadows of birds with butterfly nets
Trying to catch their feathers because someone said we’d never soar
We’d pick up the crumbs after Hansel and Gretel
Because we thought if they couldn’t run away maybe then they’d see us
But to them we were strange, I stranger then you
The last two pieces of a puzzle we wouldn’t separate and it only would fit you
They ruled us out and stamped us with a sign that meant we wouldn’t do
But someone taught us to realize we were more bullet proof then broken
Because you can’t see you’re self clearly in the contorted mirrors you're given
We built the sun inside our minds and used it to cauterize the broken heart strings
Because we were not odd we were rare
We made feasts of their bread crumbs and left them wandering a compass and no map
We blazed ourselves a trail out that they were to proud to follow
And then we grabbed onto the wind from the mouth of the man who doubted us and we flew
Higher then one might soar.
