For Whom the Last Dance is Saved
The party begins and is slow at first
It picks up with time and guests
The party is innocent enough at the start
As the night goes on it begins to get naughty
It's cute at first, what with games of dare and chance
A few kisses stolen and a few promises broken.
As the moon reaches it's dark zenith
the party is revealed to have become a lair of Venus.
Experiments and debauchery unfold.
Lies are wove into intricate webs
which catch even the spider that calls it home.
A few more hours into the night things calm
People sober up and conform to normal party rules and rituals
Dance partners are found,
only half stay with them the entire night.
Love blooms and couples get tables with plenty of seats
as to greet future guests.
Time drags on people begin to go home
Newcomers start the party anew.
The first of the guests are content to watch.
As the party comes to it's final hour
Each guest is greeted by one last person.
He who comes wearing all black
with a cane who's handle is reminiscent of a sickle.
It is he host of the gathering.
The one whom the last dance is saved.
