NYC Street Scene
As I walk the streets of NYC
I can see, hear, smell, taste and touch
the atmosphere that is present.
It is different from the south,
I walk by saying kia ora and I get no response
maybe it’s just the cold weather that has caught their tongues.
Kei te p?hea koe? I say,
and still I get no Haeri mai.
But I don’t get mad, I just keep walking down the
icy, unclean, polluted streets.
As I walk I see so many cars.
The cars make the city
seem so bright at night.
It is so bright that you cannot even see the stars.
I will be glad when I finally get home.
Maybe I will finally get a T?n? koutou
and it will be from my family.
And I will be able to tell them
How I walked the streets of NYC
And I got no Nau mai from anybody.
