It is easy to be forgotten
As the sea will always churn no matter the season
Just as time strikes down to the beat of a broken drum.

His hand sliced through the strings that held up a naïve heart,
The puppet master spontaneously quitting his day job.
It is so easy to be forgotten

In the corners of a darkened mind refugee’s survive
From a time when two wild hearts dashed to the clamor of tamed stallions
Just as time struck down to the beat of the broken drum.

Eyes beheld sparkles intertwined; as stars were plucked down from heaven on a grassy night
Only to burn out in the threshold of hell.
It is so easy to be forgotten.

Recalled kisses scorched the darkness of closed eyes
As lids fluttered to and fro to futilely extinguish the flames
Just as time struck down to the beat of the broken drum.

One midnight left and then no more,
Never looking back to see the tattered remains a tidal wave leaves behind.
It is so easy to be forgotten
As time strikes down to the beat of a broken drum.
