Ignoring the groans of my legs, I run forward.
I collide with the other player in a struggle for the ball
As I gain control of the ball, I hear a teammate calling my name.
I run with the ball and then make a smooth, controlled pass to them.
They run down the trampled and muddy length, passing with others as they go.
I hear the cheers from the stand as they kick the wet ball into the back of the net,
The keeper’s soiled fingers gently brushing it as it goes in.
