My Lucky Find

February 10, 2014
By Anonymous

One day, I found this beautiful shell at the beach.
It spoke to me.
I saw it lying there,
covered in sand sleeping.

Waiting for someone to wake it up.
I took the shell
with my beefy six year old hands.

Instead of putting it
in my bright red bucket of other shells.
I kept it in my hand.

Later, with that one shell in my hand still.
I let all the other shells go.

I walked back to the car,
with the shell in my hand.

It was my lucky find.

The author's comments:
My inspiration came from when we had to write poetry in class about finding and losing things. After reading this I felt as if I unlocked my door into writing and I felt as if I want to write forvever. I hope that everyone who reads this remembers those shell hunting days on the beach like I did. Thank You!

This is wonderful, except it roughly seemed as if you were telling a story.. instead of a poem. The line "It spoke to me."  came too soon, it seems misplaced... there are a few other catches; But overall it's a Great write, Keep it up! C:

Expect to have hope rekindled, expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways! The dry seasons in life do not last, the spring rains will come again.

This is lovely. Sometimes we have to let go of a multitude just to have that one lucky find. Sure reminded me when i had to make a choice from among some pretty shells. Keep up your beautiful writing :). GOd bless you.
