Burning
Take what has hurt you and hold it close
So tight that it hurts
Let the heat grow until it burns
The fragile, immature hands that clench
Only then can you let it go
The angry welts will scar
The delicate hands of your soul
Marring the perfect flesh
Thats never been burned before
The scars overlap, layer, to destroy innocence
And yet build
A hardness erupts out of the callous
A coldness where each nerve dies
Your hands will release you
From the violence of misplaced trust and love
My hands are always cold
Except for when they burn
For no matter how many burns I receive
i always reach for more
