The Canine Feels
Use our language they might not,
Nor do they look like me and you,
They do not think the same,
but they have feelings too.
whether they are kicked or they are burned,
left in the cold,
simply spurned,
The canine feels this pain.
Thousands are neglected
Thousands more harmed by abuse,
what isn’t understood is
when you hurt a dog, it isn’t just misuse.
It is the cruelest of the cruel,
harming a creature which only consists of love,
and maybe a little drool.
The canine feels this betrayal.
Heard all too often
are the words “Oh well it is too late”
surely you can’t condemn
an innocent pup to this fate.
He may be seen as finished
but broken he is not
his spirit will not diminish
The canine feels this strength.
All a shelter dog needs is a helping hand,
It is what they deserve
it doesn’t take too much
just passion and a little nerve
unconditional love is a rescue dogs only crime
I promise they are more than worth it
you will love them until the end of time.
The canine feels this hope.
