In The End
There was a battle
Between him and the disease.
It struck him hard, but he strove.
There was a fight
Between the disease
And the gun.
They shot and they shot and they shot back and forth,
Like a sea-saw without a playmate.
The bullets dropped to the ground.
And for a moment, it was silent.
Nothing but the clink of the bullet
Hitting the cement.
In the end,
There was no winner.
Just a bleeding man.
His true punishment being
His soul.
