When you leave, I taste joy.
But when you return, I feel my world dissolve.
The words "I'm better" "I beat it this time"
turn from success, to bitter defeat in my mouth,
the moment I hear your whisper.
I turn to meet your gaze and there is nothing there.
But your whisper turns for white noise to words.
Words of love to words of hate.
You pull me in and soon,
I am engulfed.
Back to the meds and you are gone,
Once more.

I hope this help people understand what it is like to be a teenager living with a mental illness and the disconnection that happens as you go through coping. Also how you shouldn't be ashamed because it is not your fault.

You have certainly helped me see what it's like. You're very brave. Nice work with the poem! It's great!
