The Other Girl
A little girl was lonely
She had switched schools and switched lives
She was afraid of this strange new place
Would they like her?
Nervously the little girl entered 2nd Grade
She kept to herself,
Was shy,
Scared
Her teacher was gentle, kind, and made her laugh
She quickly came to love her new school
She met new people
Loving people, she felt welcome
All of a sudden she talked to the most amazing girl she had ever met
This new girl was funny, nice, and loving
The perfect friend
The little girl was so happy to have someone again
The two were perfect for each other
They fed off each other's energy
Two peas in a pod,
To be forever linked
Seven years later, the two were still best friends
Laughing, crying together
Spending countless hours together
And tackling school together
But then a new girl came
She was in the same place that the little girl was in all those years ago
This girl immediately latched onto the best friend, other half, like a newborn puppy yearns for its Mother
The little girl was lonely
She could hear the sound of her heart breaking,
Deafening silence after a bomb
The split second before you regain your breath, all is calm
She was lonely again
After all those years
After all of the memories and sacred moments
Lonely
