Once upon a time and twice upon a time,
In a kingdom overlooking the woods,
That a princess there lived whom the villagers chime
By the name of Ryia Hood;
And this sovereign she breathes with no other wish
Than to fancy and be fancy if could.

I was a commoner and she was a highborn,
In this kingdom overlooking the woods;
But we loved with a love that was more than that of courtly love
I and my Ryia Hood;
With a love that the nobility of manor houses and castles
Envy her and me whither we stood.

And this was the reason that, long ago in the time of mysteries
In this kingdom overlooking the woods,
A blaze dance out of a cave, burning
My beauteous Ryia Hood;
So that thee appoint Eorl appeared
And stole thee away from whither I stood,
To lock thee up in the tallest donjon
In the kingdom overlooking the woods.

The dragons, not so amused in the blackness,
Went coveting us whither we stood
Yes!- that was the reason as all knights know,
In the kingdom overlooking the wood,
That the blaze emit from the mouth of the dragon by night,
Burning and killing my Ryia Hood.

But our love it was stronger by far than the courtly love
Of those who were more handsome than we-
Of myriad with more riches than we-
And neither the Phoenix consumed in fire above,
Nor the Centaur within the woods,
Can ever part my beating heart from the heart
Of the beauteous Ryia Hood.

For the sun never once risen without bringing me memories
Of the golden tresses from my beauteous Ryia Hood;
And the clouds never blow but I feel the delicate touch
Of my beauteous Ryia Hood;
And so, every hunt, I lay by my baselard and cry
For my lady-my lady- my light and my guide,
In this donjon there by the woods,
In her ash by the whispering woods.
