Walk Away
It’s time to stop walking afraid.
The days of my caution are gone.
I’m tired of pulling my punches.
I’ve been holding my breath for so long.
Today I step free of the shadows,
And I speak from lips that were numb.
If truth is what shatters your blindness,
Then your days of not seeing are done.
I’ve waited and listened and struggled
To save you from falling apart,
But it’s you that has torn me to pieces.
And it’s you that has broken my heart.
So today I leech out your poison,
Stray away from your withering shade.
Today I reclaim my emotions.
It’s time to stop walking afraid.
