"I'll try just about anything, within reason of course. ;)"

I see the world
shattering all around.

With its creaks and groans,
it decapitated buildings that moan.

Corpses of the past,
unseeing eyes like caverns,
dark and never ending.

Slightly parted lips,
letting loose one final scream.

Shuttering breaths,
drops of salty liquid,
chapped skin,
torn finger nails.

Blood.

The endless struggles paint themselves a picture,
a picture of the past,
a past from which was once the present.

Verdant greens and cheerful yellows,
brilliant laughter,
heart-warming smiles.

Peace.

Not anymore.

Dull grays and bloody reds,
a ghost of a smile,
just one,
and echos of laughter.

That is all we have left,
because,
the world stopped,
and with it,
we did too.

This poem is dreary. I will admit that. You can take it as the aftermath of a great war, the Apocalypse, or the change of emotions. It can be just about anything.
