Reunited
The hermit crab would try to travel
From the shore to the fence all day long.
His tiny little legs walking slowly across
The blistering hot sand could only go
So far before he drifted backwards
Because of the tide.
All he wanted was to be with the
Rest of his family by the fence,
But he just was not fast enough to beat the tide.
Having to walk over empty cigarette-butts, to empty bottles,
It all seemed like a waste of time.
Until one day,
The wind was calm,
It was a hot day,
With a clear sky,
The little hermit crab tried once more.
He looked back and saw that there
Were no waves in the ocean
And this was finally his chance.
It took him hours to cross the sand,
But he was reunited with his family,
Once and for all.
