How I learned to Swim
He was swimming laps,
executing a perfect front crawl,
when he invited me into the sea of love.
And i dove,
immersing myself in passion and fear.
But when i rose to the surface,
it seemed you had disappeared.
I couldn't find you.
It was then I remembered,
I didn't know how to swim.
It was like i landed in Spain,
and didn't speak a word of Spanish.
This romance c**p was a foreign language to me.
But i learned how to do new things with my lips,
I learned how to please you,
I learned all the right things to say,
I learned how to please you,
so you would keep coming back for more.
So you would keep coming back for more,
I wore the perfume you said u liked,
I wore my shirts a size too tight. And damn, did I learn how to conjugate,
our bodies became like one,
always intertwined,
your hand always locked in mine,
our bodies tangled under warm white sheets.
The nights we weren't side-by-side,
I dreamed of your lips meeting mine,
but i hadn't realized yet,
that you introduced your lips to hers,
and when they met,
a spark of excitement struck, because the fear of getting caught
makes sex that much more exhilarating.
Meanwhile, I believed you taught me how to love.
I thought every kiss was a promise,
every touch meant forever.
And somewhere in the midst of infatuation
I met Her.
And I knew the foreign language I had learned wasn't love at all,
It was Love's cousin.
They look so much alike one is often confused for the other.
You taught me hate.
And hate has different rules than love.
I hate you so much I smile in your presence,
I hold his hand as you watch, laugh with him as you cry,
because nobody ever taught you how to love.
Now let's have a race.
The first one to the other side of the sea of love wins.
My technique is better than yours now,
I will emerge victorious.
