Missed Train
At some point, the train left
And you were still sitting on the platform
Waiting for an envelope to arrive
So you could climb in and
Ship yourself off to nowhere
But in a different universe
You are the only one who boarded the train
You are the lone passenger as the airvents clatter
And the ghost conductor calls out the command
You cover your ears with pretty melodies
Shut out his words with the
Siren song of a hundred violins
You are on a journey to nowhere
The landscape fills itself in as you pass
You are the planet Earth in a
Solar system of Jupiters
Icy rings surrounding the untouchable ones
Like belts of shattered glass
If you get too close, they will slice your heart
And you will bleed into the multiverse
Ruby red drops crystallizing into what they’ll call stars
They’ll photograph you and sell it to a magazine
That will write an article about you
Like you’re some exotic, far-off land
And you’ll bask in the heat of a thousand spiteful suns
