People tell me I have his nose
Because it’s strong and hooked
With a powerful bump at the top
But I hope that’s all he gave me
An ugly nose is enough
And better than an ugly mind that
Sinks its teeth into anything it can
Like the hearts of girls who have
Not yet learned to love the real way
I hope I do not have his hands
Calloused from the cold metal of a gun
And stained with a twisted love
Love I hope I do not have
Because love is not a fist or a knife
Love is not an apology
I hope I do not have his back
Because he never had mine
And I hope a nose does not give me
A guiltless conscience and a
Forgetful brain.

Wow. I pretty much read this whole poem with my mouth gaping open...because I was stunned by the awesomeness that pretty much oozed from it. It is so deep and personal. I can't relate so much to the poem's meaning, but I felt like I really knew the pain and frustration that you were feeling. Fantastic.

It is a wonderful poem and i 100% understand where your coming from. My father is like that too. However i feel it was ended to quickly i feel you could have added more at the end other then that it is beautiful

It is a truth universally acknowedged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. -Pride and Prejudice

I think i would have put the forgetful brain in the middle and something more dark and shocking at the end. Just my opinion though :)

We're all just looking for attention, to be discovered overnight. We're all frustrated by the popular ones that claim the limelight before they fall to pieces. So many of us are stuck under the radar--what makes me different? You decide!

powerful, emotional, to the point...nice job and congrats!!! :)
