Mother
He peeps out of the window,
To see his mother,
Waving at him.
“Take care!”, she shouts,
Concern ringing in her voice.
The boy does not wave back,
But diffidently turns away,
Until the sight of the people on the station,
Ebbs away.
“Welcome to the Boarding School”, the nameplate reads,
And the children file out,
Of the train to greet,
The pugnacious headmistress.
They are then driven away to their dorms indifferently.
Broken voices, soulful cries,
An endless number of good byes,
Those sodden remnants, his mother’s face,
Waving at him flash and make their presence known,
In his heart.
He succumbs to tears, unable to keep the grief of parting with his mother,
Apart.
