Fall in Love Again
Last summer, when I saw you first,
You were watching the pigeons soar to the sky,
Your eyes immersed,
In contemplation.
We met at the coffee shop and you said,
You liked writing poetry,
My heart warmed up, delighted by
The revelation that there was someone
Like me.
Last spring, you called me to your place,
That is when you said you wanted to chase,
The stars with me. I was dazed,
Tongue tied and mesmerized.
Last autumn, you went away,
Left me, Abandoned me,
Shattered and poignant,
I went over to the sea,
Called your name,
To summon you back in case you’d wandered off.
It is winter now, and you aren’t here,
Another day. Another year.
Will pass without hearing from you.
And then when the summer arrives,
I would go back to the place,
Where I met you first,
Your eyes immersed,
In contemplation.
Shattered memories, very few,
But I would fall over again,
In love with you,
Even if a thousand times in vain.
