Spikes are laced
Prepared to race
Step on the line
Ready, set, go!

The gun is shot.
I get out fast.
I almost trip
but pace is kept.

Two miles down,
continue on
to victory
awaiting me.

The author's comments:
I run cross country and it's a very difficult sport. Meets are pretty fun, but are very stressful. When it's all over in the end though, it's very rewarding because I feel very accomplished. Running is great, and it helped me get inspiration to write this syllabic poem.
