I remember...
I remember…
Sitting on your porch
Sipping the iced lemonade on
Summer’s day where everything was
Silent and only the chirps of
Swallows filled our ears as the
Sun shone its mighty rays and
Sweat trickled down our backs as we came back from
Soccer and later on
Soaked ourselves with hoses,
Straining to blast each other in the back-
So we did and all you did was
Smile at me when I knocked you over.
“Sorry” was the only thing I said before a
Splash of water hit my face,
Since then I knew you were going to be my friend forever
Soon, you were gone.
Sailed across the ocean and moved down
South where all the open plains are, where the
Sunsets are beautiful and all you could hear was
Silence except for those crickets and
Swallows who always come by to
Sing you a cheerful
Song to fill your ears on a
Summer’s day where we
Spend the whole day
Sitting on your porch because
I remember.
