Tears Don't Fall

Why? Where could the defect be?
He knows he needs to let it out, but it's all stuck inside him.
He cannot cry, scream, wail.
Only able to watch his emotion whither away into apathy.
Upbringing, perhaps? 'Real men shan't cry?'
Or steeling himself against the world?
Tears are required, to cleanse the heart and soul.
Must he maintain this descent into self-destruction? This whirlpool of disregard?
But as hard as I try, whatever my need,
Tears don't fall.
