For mother
There was a special place in heaven,
where footprints traveled in fours,
and the sky was painted with pastels.
Where the grass never faded,
and the daisies always bloomed.
Where strangers were uncommon,
and words had value.
Where trees never stood bare,
and tomorrows were looked forward to.
Where hope was stronger than fear,
and each hand always open.
Yes, there was a special place in heaven,
filled with time and patience,
saved for the day,
that those gates brought me back to you.
