College
There's a lot wrong with the world-
That I will admit,
But what we fail to notice
Is the other side of it,
Can you really blame a child,
For failing in a class,
When our country's curriculum
Is so difficult to pass?
How can Finland lead in education,
When they give less homework and tests?
What Finnish children really have,
Is less tension and less stress,
What our youth truly want,
Is confidence and respect,
But that's not even possible,
When most of them are rejects,
Why is it even the smartest,
Who's success seem very probable-
Hang up their hopes and dreams
Cause college seems impossible?
What of the children,
Who just dropped out of school?
Whose friends mock them from the sidelines
And take them for a fool,
Why is it that we try so hard,
And that's still not enough?
You may think kids have got it easy
But students got it rough,
I'll never make it into college
And if I did it costs too much,
So what's wrong with our society?
Well man I've got a hunch,
We glorify perfection,
We glorify self-hate,
We glorify the thin
And dismiss the over-weight
We glorify beauty,
We glorify the clean,
We glorify knowledge
And won't supply it to our teens.
