"Of all the sad words of tongue or pen the saddest may be it might have been"

When our eyes first met there was a mutual attraction
And from that day on I felt a strong connection
At first just a summer fling, I wasn't really expecting anything
But as months passed by I was still in your arms, and you in mine
I payed no attention to the passing of time
But here we are after a year in love
After a year of pure bliss
A remarkable year that I am reminded of with each kiss
It is in your arms that I find comfort
And it is in your genuine heart that I feel at home
You are my very best friend
And you will be until the end
Thank you for this wonderful year
I am truly blessed to hold you this near

A little gooey for my tastes, but it is very sweet. Shame on him if he didn't appreciate this! My favorite line is also "I payed no attention to the passing of time." Haha, on a more formal note, I would've given you more stars had you incorporated more punctuation. Your grammar's fine, but poetry is an oral language that when spoken aloud, a poem needs to have appropriate pauses. You can accomplish this through the tactful placement of commas, colons, periods, semicolons, interrobangs, exclamation points, question marks, etc. Lovely, though! :)
