mother
your mom was warm
even from across the room
even with sad eyes and a fake smile
that was her way of saying i love you
she never even had to speak
i wish i was your friend
. . . .
so she could make us pancakes in the morning
and lemonade on hot summer days
we could talk about life
or even just school would be fine
i wish i was her daughter
. . . .
so i could tell her sunset is my favorite time of day
and i stay up all night just to see sunrise
we could share our favorie books and laugh at our favorie movies
i wish you were nicer to her
. . . .
if i were your friend id tell you to be
if i were her daughter id tell you if you said another word youd have a free trip to the emergency room
