The Devices
They hum and work
Calculating and measuring
Blinking and flashing
Through our time
And we watch
Wide eyed and obsessive
At their magic mirrors
Entranced by their jestering
But the curtains close
The lights fade away
And they become excluded
Hidden under beds and sofas
Stashed in drawers and purses
They are forgotten for the night
But they never worry
They know their owners will return
For their Book of Faces
Their twittering birds
The angered avians
And the Temples they run in
They will check their xylophone calls
And bell hoping messages
They will open their pandora's boxes
And plug into them again
And reality will fade a little
And worries will fall
Like the popularity of news papers
And the devices will rule again
