shattered

shattered glass
is all that is left.
what was once beautiful,
a sign of hope during dark days,
your light from the abyss,
is gone.
it wasn't your fault though.
it was them.
who came along
and broke what should not have been touched.
you remember it vividly,
but the depressing heap in front of you
is unrecognizable.
then...
i guess it's time
to pick up the pieces
and begin
yet again.
