Because Love
Because Summer runs into
Fall flowers must
crumble
Because the seasons
transform
the eyes have not yet adjusted
to the faded out whites,
so waters come forth
clearing away
what was obscured.
Because this weeping
kisses the earth
we wait in our pain
for spring rains—waters—
to return the flowers
back to where they ended
and return love to where
it belongs.
