Gawking at Damnation
Waterboard me with my tears,
Smother me with my fears,
Watch the children pass their beers
That aren’t quite enough.
They want to get high,
Too high to see reality,
Too far in the sky,
To see the imperfections of humanity.
But they can’t—
So they want more,
Which is what turned Jenny into a w****,
And Benny into a dealer,
And Kenny into a killer,
And the rest of the whole damn nation
Into a gawking audience.
After all,
Everyone loves a good train wreck.
