To be alone
I never knew what it felt like to be loved.
I’ve always been alone.
I know what its like to love,
to love like a sister, a mother, an aunt.
I know what its like to be all those things,
even when i’m not.
I know what its like to pray to a god,
a god you doubt,
a god you don't believe.
I know what its like to praise him,
in those little miracles, those small things, the births of life.
I know what its like to be the only one,
to be the only child, to be the only girl, to be the only white.
I never knew what it was like to fit in.
To be in a clique.
To have so many friends.
To even have one.
I’ve always been alone.
I know what its like to love,
but not be loved.
I know what its like to want to lay down your life for them.
I know what its like to be alone.
No mother, No father,
No friends by your side.
I know what its like.
