Lost amid the hedgerows
stage lights illuminate an unblissful truth.
camaraderie sewn on like sequins,
essential and proudly displayed and unique
and theirs.
sisterhoods bloom without your help
and nobody weeps
but if they did, there would always be
a fan of bright petal to
catch their tears.
this is a weed.
that’s a flower.
and the only tears that are shed are because
you wish you weren’t so different.
