My Dream
This is a dream I dreamt.
I dreamt it as I slept
on the floor of my apartment.
A man in another land;
shovel in hand,
working under another man’s command.
A family to sustain,
some kids to educate,
and a job to maintain.
I wanted to wake up
and this dream to end,
so I could meet with my dad again.
But the dream I dreamt wouldn’t end,
until my mom got detained,
and I returned to the land I once belonged.
