Favorite Quote:
“Truth is always stranger than fiction. We craft fiction to match our sense of how things ought to be, but truth cannot be crafted. Truth is, and truth has a way of astonishing us to our knees. Reminding us, that the universe does not exist to fulfill our expectations. Because we are imperfect beings who are self-blinded to the truth of the world’s stunning complexity, we shave reality to paper thin theories and ideologies that we can easily grasp – and we call them truths. But the truth of a sea in all it’s immensity cannot be embodied in one tidewashed pebble.”

To the night sky,
to the god of that midnight,
your velvet raven black robes
studded with soft diamond stars
your silver eye of moonlight,
what does it see?

Does it see secrets
hidden in the depths of midnight?
Does it see tears
from a beautiful rose's cheek?
Does it see the cruelty
of human hatred?
Does it see Death
buried deep in the earth?
Does your cloak sweep over
spirits lost to the flow of time?
Does your wind-torn whisper
warn a lone traveler of
evil deeds to be done only
by your silver lantern light?

Oh, Varuna,
tell me what you knew
tell me what you saw
when you showed this word-weaver
showed this tiny witch your beauty
and spoke of hushed secrets
taken deep to the grave.

The author's comments:
Varuna is Sanskrit for the God of the Night Sky, it's a name that I really love. It's a boy's name. I always wondered what he could see in the night, the things man does when no-one can watch but this God.
