The Spells of Slumber
For half our lives or so
We lay, not waking
Dead to the world, and still alive.
Our thoughts to dreams,
Our hearts to song,
And all that mystical what-not.
A logical mind crumbles to foam of the sea
While you wait for this period of time to be over.
For even the strongest soul
- Their spirit free -
Will find
That he is his own most dangerous enemy.
Meaning that if you die
Before you fully surface
No matter how long or hard you try
No matter how agonizing the fight
You will never escape the coffin
That holds the key
to
The spells
of
slumber.
