Heaven Above is Calling an Angel Home
Your days of youth are no more. Hopes and dreams long since expired
Dreams of love and eternity. Have faded away
You lay in that hospital bed just waiting for that last breath
Loved ones surrounding, their words drowned out. All you see is a blur of people
You hear sniffling, and tears falling; you don’t want them to cry
You go to speak but no words stumble out. Your voice has been silenced
You want them to know that heaven above is calling an angel home tonight.
You want to tell them to not be sad, that every joyous life must come to an end.
You want them to know that you’ll be watching from above.
Protecting them just as you’ve always done.
You want to tell them that it’s better off this way, for you will once again be with your love.
When my eyes finally left yours and I bent over to kiss you goodbye
You whispered in my ear.
I love you my dear.
This is when I knew, heaven above is calling an angel home tonight.
