You Are the Property of Felix Timor
I’ve watched the end
Of so many lives
So many cries
And so many lies.
Lives engulfed in heavy fog
Their whispers swallowed up with gloom
Falling into perfect sadness
Breathing in their flawless doom
The fear of unknown darkness
Of expanses strange and daunting
Has lasted in our memories
As something dark and haunting
The shifting sands beneath us
Swallow our footsteps and we fall
And the never-ceasing sun above
Will slowly singe us, one and all
The fastest won’t be fast enough
They won’t make it all the way
Watch the fool who chose to try
And watch the kid who tried to stay
The rain comes down with dangerous strength
Soaking our clothes and slowing our pace
Grasping for a sturdy hold,
Dread in our eyes, they open the gates
Blue water’s always cold with rain
Or maybe that’s just your icy skin.
Is it what’s in the water that freaks you out,
Or just the fact that you can’t swim?
Mountain hillsides, almost bliss
Clear air and flowers beckon us so
But only fools will try to stop
They fall behind, they fall to slow
The fog engulfs our body in gloom
The darkness hides our error
The sunshiny sands beat down and burn
And rains drown out our terror
Choking on the truth
Is a pathetic way to die.
But a more pathetic way to live would be
Feeding off a lie
So I feel it’s a civic duty of mine
To warn you you’re walking towards a darkening hole
Like melting water swallows the world
Like Felix Timor swallows the soul.
