Having a Conversation with God
Having a Conversation with God-
God?
Are you there?
I know my Mennonite mouth is
Unclean:
I’m aware that I cuss
Like a swash-buckling pirate
And mutter
Like a stagehand,
Dressed all in black.
But on the inside
I’m different,
And you know that.
You’re the only one
Who really
Sees
Me for who I am.
I know my hands have not
Steepled
For ages,
But I don’t know
Where else to turn.
My world has gone black and cold,
And my vision is starting to fade.
God, give me courage,
God, give me strength,
God, just please…
Tell me
Who I’m supposed
To be.
