greengrass love me say you will
breathing soft beneath this hill
where yellow paintbrush stands too still
to ever be set free
greengrass roots will compromise
the firelight in lovers’ eyes
our feet can’t feel your soft goodbyes
long as they mobile be
greengrass whisper in my ear
confirm the treachery of years
that clings to us and licks the tears
from off our salted cheeks
greengrass howl beneath that snow
frozen watching from below
whole worlds as they crawl so slow
while days turn into weeks
greengrass slide your fingers through
that skywide skyline evening blue
and think back to the times when you
could drink your thirsty fill
greengrass we are only earth
supporting all your endless girth
and as we roll we feel the worth
of simply being still

I love how this poem is an apostrophe to the grass. And how you personify the grass like a lover. Your descriptions as always are picturesque. As ol' DEan Moriarty says, "I'm diggin' it." 5/5!
