Touch But Do Not Feel
touch my hair, touch my neck,
touch my ribs, touch my breasts,
touch my lips, touch my toes,
touch my knees, touch my nose,
touch the light switch, touch the clock,
touch the door and touch the lock,
touch the spaces in between,
my heart and my mind, a cold vaccine.
touch the air within my lungs,
touch the words rolling on my tongue,
touch the closet, touch the tap
touch it all, but it’s all crap.
touch the pictures on the wall,
touch the winter, spring and fall,
touch the goosebumps on my skin,
touch the bruises on my shins.
touch the tears sliding down my cheeks,
touch the hours, days and weeks,
touch my heart, but don’t you dare,
touch a thing if you don’t care.
