The Hero
I shall ever regard him as
The best and the wisest man
I’ve ever known.
We were brothers
Not in blood, but in bond.
He gave me a new drive to live,
Showed me how much the world needed me.
So I joined him in his battle
Against the web of evil and the twisted spider
Who sat waiting in the center.
But my friend was ensnared in the web
And the spider took him from me,
Leaving a void in my life
As vast as his ego was.
I can’t believe he’s gone,
Can’t believe that was him
I saw falling, like an angel, to his end.
People say he was a fraud,
A liar, a cheat, a freak,
Now that he’s not here
To prove them wrong.
It seems only I still believe
In who he really was.
He once told me that he wasn’t a hero,
That he never could be;
But he saved me,
So that’s all he’ll ever be to me.
