Knowing
You told me knowing doesn’t matter
To release or to latch on
I prefer the latter
Bolted out till dawn
Gone was the assurance of identity
Demanding always filial piety
Life lessons on sobriety
Sober no more
Drunk always
What’s wrong with wanting to know? I’m not fazed.
To see the face that every child admires each day
Memorize the lines on his face till their gray
Correlate each one to mine
But you told me knowing doesn’t matter
To latch or to release
I think I’ll welcome peace
I want the flares to cease
Dragging my inquisitive heart on a leash
Away from the unknown
Fearing the night alone
Observing mom shriek and groan
Giving my love on loan
You told me knowing doesn’t matter
Then why did you pick up at the dial tone?
