This is for every girl you try to hold down
but who escapes through your fingers like water
she forms her own river
powerful enough to shape the face of her world
with waves of change
she reaches new heights
because people marvel at waterfalls
so even when she comes crashing back down to earth
she makes an impact
softening the sharpest of what we thought was
rock solid in the foundation
of our lives
because every tear
might somehow eventually become a cloud
the rain that might someday water
whole new fields of discovery
