"I've been singing since I was born" - Idina Menzel

Remember the Devil, the one who wears black.
Remember the Devil, the one with silver eagles on his hat.
He came and killed my mother, my brother, my son.
Remember the Devil.
Don’t forget that he may come back.

He put us in pens, like pigs, and shaved us of our liberty.
He stripped us naked to the bone, and tattooed us black and blue.

Remember the Devil, the one who wears black.
Remember the Devil, the one with silver eagles on his hat.
He came and killed my mother, my brother, my son.
Remember the Devil.
Fight him when he comes back.

We lived in wire cages, like chickens, only ours was sharp as knives.
We were separated from the world and treasured each painful second of our too short lives.

Remember the Devil, the one who wears black.
Remember the Devil, the one with silver eagles on his hat.
He came and killed my mother, my brother, my son.
Remember the Devil.
Don’t let him come back.

I’ll never forget the day I saw him go.
The joy in my heart is too hard to describe.
I am free.
No.
I am still chained.
He has scared me and my people.
He has denied me my life.
The damage cannot be undone.

Remember the Devil, the one who wears black.
Remember the Devil, the one with silver eagles on his hat.
He came and killed my mother, my brother, my son.
Remember the Devil.
Fight him when he comes back.

I am not really a Holocaust surviver (I'm only 14 after all), but I still feel like this needed to be said. The survivors are dying out and it us our job, the children, to remember and to tell their story.
